On July 17th news reports came in about a large typhoon heading towards the coast of Taiwan. A group of friends and I decided to get in some riding before the hills became too wet. Very few people are injured by the heavy winds, most are hurt or killed by mudslides in Taiwan's hilly environment. Luckily our guide chose a trail that was made up mostly of hard sandstone. We were soaked several times by short heavy downpours, which quickly evaporated in the heat of the afternoon.

Contemplating the will of the gods. We were about to get soaked! This is a shot of one of the riders from Alan's bike shop. A great group of people who organize group rides every Sunday.

I did a mountain bike trip to TianMu in Taipei in early July. There are some great views over looking the city. The ride out was a little out of my league. I flipped 3 times and bent one of my wheel rims beyond repair. Some of the more mellow terrain was very fun, and the top of the mountain was definitely worth the trip.
